A Sonnet on the Pointlessness of HOPE

From terrible confusion arises clarity of thoughts,

In the sea of hopelessness float boats of hope,

A wasteland is an invitation for life to sprout,

‘From darkness to light’ is a familiar trope. (4)

Seize gets lifted to welcome freedom from fear,

Trees of hatred become laden with love,

After bothering for long troubles overnight disappear,

Wars in their wake give prominence to peace doves.(8)

Treasures of knowledge can’t be buried in empty brains,

Faith shall never reside in crooked, closed minds,

Wisdom cannot dwell where cynicism reigns,

Who can walk back to the moments left behind? (12)

Death throws all progress out of the door,

Dialectics hold no meaning after last hurrah no more. (14)

(This is a Shakespearean Sonnet having 14 lines, three quatrains having 4 lines each and a couplet. Volta occurs after after 8th line. The rhyme scheme is ABAB CDCD EFEF GG)
